About us

Hastoe owns and manages more than 7,500 homes across the south of England from Devon to Norfolk. We are a social housing landlord and England's leading rural housing specialist. We deliver small housing developments in partnership with local communities although, for historic reasons, we also own some housing in urban areas.

We are passionate about providing a first-class service for our customers. If you are enthusiastic, customer-focused and passionate about making a difference to people's lives, then we want to hear from you.

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to make an impact in the delivery of the rents and service charge provision at Hastoe.

You will manage a small team to cover all aspects of Hastoe's rents and service charge provision, including: accounting for payments received from residents and benefit authorities; calculating and reviewing our residents' rents, service charges and miscellaneous charges; and ensuring that our policies and procedures remain compliant with the latest government guidance and legislation, as well as wider best practice.

The role will require close working and collaboration with colleagues within the Finance team and wider organisation (in particular our Housing and Leasehold teams), as well as communicating externally with residents and other stakeholders regarding rents and service charges. You will also need to liaise with our external auditors for the annual service charge audit, and report to our Head of Finance and Executive Team on our rents and service charge performance.

You will also lead on an exciting project to implement a service charge accounting system, as well as further communication improvements.

About you

We are looking for someone with keen attention to detail and strong data analysis skills. You will also need to be adept at communication and passionate about service improvement.

The ideal candidate will have:

Strong MS Excel skills and experience with analysis of transactional data.

Previous experience of working in the housing sector and knowledge of the use and financial administration of housing management systems.

Knowledge of rents and service charge legislation, guidance and best practice.

Previous experience of maintaining financial records and administrative systems.

Previous experience of managing/supervising others, and working with others to deliver housing and rents & service charge projects (such as the annual rent review).

The ability to work as part of a team with the aim of providing a first-class service to both colleagues and customers.

The ability to communicate with a wide range of people with varying degrees of rents/service charge knowledge and financial literacy.

Hastoe is eager to support colleagues with training and progression, so this role would also ideally suit someone who already has, or is intending to start, a financial qualification.

A personal note fro m Head of Finance, your hiring manager

"This is a fantastic and varied role in a great Finance team, where you will work on a critical area of Hastoe's operations, working closely with colleagues across the entire organisation to deliver our rents and service charge function."
