School Business Manager

About the role

As the Business Manager, you will be responsible for the non-teaching-related running of the school, as part of a dynamic school management team. Your duties as a Business Manager can include:

  • As part of the Senior Leadership Team, to assist the Head Teacher and Governors to ensure that the Academy meets its educational aims from a business and resourcing perspective.
  • To be accountable for the effective management of the Academy's financial resources at a strategic and tactical level, ensuring the most effective use of resources in support of the Academy's learning objectives.
  • To be accountable for the management of property, facilities, and the administration policy of the Academy.
  • To be accountable for HR processes, recruitment, and staff absence management across the Academy

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Relevant experience as an SBL/CFO or similar role
  • Minimum level 2 (GCSE 4-9 or A*-C) in Maths and English
  • Diploma or certificate in school business managers qualification
  • A valid DBS register with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one

What you'll need to succeed:

  • You should already have experience of working in a school environment.
  • Experience of contributing at a strategic level within senior management/leadership team of an organisation
  • Knowledge and experience of managing risk assessments and health and safety legislation
  • Experience of managing budgets and resources
  • Flexibility and willingness to be adaptable
