Prospero Teaching is looking for a confident, assertive, and approachable D&T teacher to cover a long term absence in a secondary school in Wigan.

Please find below some essential requirements that would be needed to help:

  • Ability to use a laser cutter and 2D Design
  • Trained in use of band saw and circular saw
  • Ability to use a range of workshop tools and have a working understanding of how they are maintained
  • Organised and able to mark books
  • Ability to prepare materials, components and equipment for a lesson
  • Can teach Product Design, Graphics and Engineering
  • Can deliver Engineering to KS4 (Including Maths based lessons)

Most of the timetable for this role will be to cover key stage 4 levels, all abilities, and subjects.

Design and Technology is a popular non-core subject thanks to a friendly yet professional learning environment made possible by the hard work of both staff and students. The position is open to experienced staff members who have experience working in a D&T role, within schools.

CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS

  • Location - Wigan
  • Position - Design and Technology
  • Start date - September 2024
  • Minimum rate of pay - Minimum rate £120 per day
  • Hours - 8:15 am - 4pm

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recent Graduate, with a 2:1 or higher
  • PGCE in desired role
  • Previous experience working in a UK school
  • Previous experience working in a leadership role
  • Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year
  • Up to date Prevent training issued in the last year

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references covering the last 2 years
