Head of Accounts

A leading orchestra contractor in the UK, engaging top-tier London musicians for major feature films, television programmes, video games, records, commercials, live shows, and production music for over 35 years, is seeking a new team member.

We are a small company of 11 people looking for an individual to run all aspects of our accounts department with the help of an assistant at our office in Spitalfields.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Prepare quarterly management reports, including trading analysis, accruals, and Profit and Loss reports for directors.
  • Conduct monthly cashflow reporting.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.
  • Handle day-to-day banking functions, including treasury deposits.
  • Manage VAT returns.
  • Oversee accounts payable/receivable.
  • Prepare final client invoices and liaise with clients on final costs.
  • Prepare for year-end procedures, including reconciliations and final checks before handing over to company accountants for the preparation of final company accounts. Address audit queries, complete additional reporting as required, and run year-end close on Sage.
  • Process staff expenses and prepare P11D information.
  • Manage all office bills and functions, including company mobile phones, cab accounts, credit card bills, company subscriptions, etc.
  • Calculate and manage residual payments to musicians from TV repeats and sales.
  • Update company accountants with any staff/payroll changes before they run the monthly payroll.
  • Maintain office insurance, company health insurance, and pension scheme.

Required Skills:

  • Five or more years of experience in an accounts/finance role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Sage accounts and Excel, with knowledge of Xero preferred but not essential.
  • Team player willing to manage a wide range of accounts and office tasks.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary in the region of £45,000 to £50,000, dependent on experience.
  • Full-time role with hours from 9.30am to 6pm.
