General Operative (Despatch)
Hourly Rate: £11.45, increasing to £11.90 after training
Pertemps are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a General Operative to join their team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced environment, managing various aspects of order processing, despatch, and delivery coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Order Processing:
- Check and verify order details, including product quantities and delivery addresses.
Scheduling & Routing:
- Plan and organise delivery routes for drivers and carriers.
- Optimise routes to minimise travel time and fuel usage.
- Efficiently manage multiple deliveries.
Communication:
- Act as the key contact for drivers, delivery personnel, and transport providers.
- Provide drivers with delivery instructions, addresses, and any necessary contact details.
Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of despatch activities.
- Produce delivery manifests, shipping labels, and other related paperwork.
- Scan completed Works Orders and Certificates of Conformance (CoCs) into relevant folders.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor stock levels to ensure products are available for delivery.
- Work with warehouse teams to manage restocking when required.
Health & Safety:
- Adhere to safety procedures when handling hazardous materials, where applicable.
- Promote a safe working environment in the despatch and storage areas.
- Safely operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet trucks.
Problem Solving:
- Address and resolve delivery delays, route changes, or other logistical issues.
- Keep customers informed of any delays and provide updated delivery information.
Quality Control:
- Carry out quality checks on outgoing products to ensure they meet required standards.
- Report any defects or issues immediately.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments, including procurement, production, and stores.
