At Chichester College, we are looking for an Associate Lecturer in French (Bank) who can effectively communicate, inspire and teach part-time adult learners as part of our popular adult community learning programme.

As our Associate Lecturer in French, you will have the skills, knowledge and experience required to teach ‘Holiday' French, with the potential to teach at an intermediate and advanced level in the future. A professional or academic qualification relevant to the area of teaching is also essential.

Key Responsibilities of our Associate Lecturer in French:

  • Delivering courses at beginner level French with opportunities to deliver intermediate and advanced level in the future. These courses are offered to adult learners typically in the late afternoons and evenings during term time.
  • Undertaking teaching and learning related activities, including tutoring, as agreed.
  • Ensuring that appropriate learning materials are prepared and assessments and assignments are undertaken in a timely manner.
  • Undertaking administration and provide reports and statistics regarding student and teaching matters.
  • Taking an active role in the achievement of high individual student retention and success rates, meeting or surpassing the relevant targets for each.
  • Develooping curricula and learning activities, taking into consideration literacy and numeracy development, and equality and diversity.
  • Understanding personal responsibilities in relation to Safeguarding.

Our ideal Associate Lecturer in French should have the below skills and experience:

  • A professional or academic qualification relevant to the area of teaching
  • Level 2 literacy and numeracy
  • Experience teaching of at least one modern European language to secondary school or adult learners
  • Experience teaching and assessing learners
  • Proven language knowledge/skills (French) and strong understanding of the application to life and work
  • An understanding of safeguarding vulnerable groups
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
