Hays are recruiting for a job as a Full-Time Welsh Speaking Teaching Assistant for a Welsh-Medium Primary School in Caerphilly County. The school provides a fantastic level of Welsh language education for students aged 3 to 11 within the local area, something the leadership team are highly regarded and well-respected for within the local community. The role shall involve working 1 to 1 with a year 4 student with additional learning needs relating to ASD and Autism. The student requires emotional and academic support as they engage with their schoolwork. This is a wonderful opportunity to work within a school which prides itself on the happy and supportive learning environment it creates and maintains for its staff and students alike. The school also uses their agency staff as an opportunity to permanently recruit from within, meaning that this is a great opportunity to introduce yourself to this recruitment process.
Your new role.
The role is confirmed for a September start date, working 5 days a week. However, the school are also looking for staff who are available from earlier, as well as part-time Teaching Assistants. Duties relating to this role include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting a year 4 student with Additional Learning Needs on a 1:1 basis.
  • Offering support to pupils and staff members through the medium of Welsh.
  • Supporting with additional learning needs and some aspects of challenging behaviour.
  • Assisting teachers and fellow teaching assistants as part of the school's passionate and hardworking teaching team.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe, enjoyable, interactive, and engaging learning environment for the pupils, as well as co-workers.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, it is required that you possess at least 40 days of relevant experience over the course of the last 2 - 3 years and must be able to speak Welsh. Some of the key attributes and skills needed for this role include empathy, enthusiasm, respect, and dedication. Additional relevant skills include reliability, care, and calmness.
