Operations Technician / Operations Developer

A skilled Operations Technician / Operations Developer is needed to join the team at this leading provider of economic data based in London on a full-time basis.

Since 1994, this company has been helping the global financial community to make informed decisions with high-quality securities reference data, corporate actions, end-of-day pricing and economic data services.

As an Operations Developer, you will work with the IT Delivery Manager to roll out new initiatives and technological advancements to Auto Ops and conduct R&D on cloud platforms and third-party offerings.

The candidate should be available to work a rotating shift schedule: 08:00-16:30, 13:00-21:30, 18:00-02:30, or 00:00-08:30. The candidate must also be available to work on Bank Holidays.

About the Role

Working alongside other Operations team members, the Operations Technician/Ops Developer will monitor, flag, and track system and data feed issues and work to fix them.

Your key role will be to notice when operational processes are incorrect and then be proactive in problem resolution. This is an important role as monitoring and maintaining their data feeds and automation is key to their successful delivery of products to their clients.

This role will also require working with their internal support team to resolve IT-related client enquiries and their clients via email in case of feed delays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and maintenance of established data feeds within the Auto Operations (Ops) System, as well as the Price feeds
  • Troubleshoot and resolve exception issues in data delivery processes
  • Maintenance of hardware/software required for day-to-day operations of the firm
  • Write/edit scripts for Ops functions using SQL, VBS, PowerShell, and Batch formats in addition to the use of their automation software
  • Implementation of new data feeds to their Auto Ops System
  • Set up and maintain client FTP accounts
  • Network monitoring and reporting
  • Liaise with internal Support and external clients via email
  • Maintain documentation for reporting, knowledge database, benchmarking, Ops manual, hardware/software lists, and Change log requests
  • Stay abreast of technological changes and advances in the fields of databasing, automation and data delivery
  • Conduct R&D of delivery methods on various cloud platforms and review with the IT Delivery Manager
  • Implement and oversee the development, testing and deployment of new delivery mechanisms
  • Report the progress of projects to the IT Delivery Manager
  • Perform the job role in compliance with EDI's security objectives as defined in EDI's policies and procedures
  • To carry out any other tasks as may be reasonably required

Required Experience:

  • GCSE level or Vocational level 4 equivalent (e.g. NVQ)
