About Us

Housing for Women is a registered charity and independent housing association. We champion female empowerment by providing and promoting affordable homes for women and gender-specific support services. Since 1934, we have been working to build a more equal society for women, a world where everyone has a safe roof over their head regardless of circumstance, where violence against women is no longer tolerated.

We are now seeking a Men's Outreach Support Worker to join us on a part-time basis, working 18.75 hours per week for a fixed term contract until March 2025.

The Role

As a Men's Outreach Support Worker, you will provide high-quality support to male victims and survivors of domestic abuse in the community, ensuring they have access to a range of interventions and support measures.

Working in partnership with local and national services, you will aim to achieve the best outcomes for men and ensure that all services are delivered to the highest standards in line with our policies, procedures and funding requirements.

You will deliver trauma-informed support, develop individual support plans and facilitate sessions that promote understanding of domestic violence, life skills and healthy lifestyles.

Additionally, you will conduct risk assessments, develop safety plans and provide effective advice and advocacy, ensuring that support is culturally and religiously sensitive and tailored to the specific needs of each service user.

Your role will also involve:

  • Collaborating with internal and external partners to support service delivery
  • Participating in training and performance management processes
  • Maintaining accurate records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection policies
  • Engaging with service users to gather feedback
  • Developing strategies for continuous service improvement

About You

To be considered as a Men's Outreach Support Worker, you will need:

  • Experience working with vulnerable male adults from diverse backgrounds in a community or floating support basis
  • Experience supporting male survivors of DVA
  • Experience undertaking individual assessments including risk assessments and developing and delivering support plans
  • Knowledge of the impact that DVA has upon service users and their children
  • Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Children's Act, Community Care Act, Domestic Violence Legislation, Housing Act, MARAC protocol, etc.
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits, safeguarding children and adults, child protection and social and voluntary services approaches and involvement
  • Strong crisis management skills
  • To be educated to NVQ 3, A level standard or equivalent

Please note, you will be required to take part in our call out of hours support rota.
