Rural Surveyor

Role Overview

This is an opportunity to join a friendly and energetic team with a diverse workload spanning rural professional practice and with a core retained estate management work and associated strategic consultancy. The immediate team consists of two Directors, three Associate Directors and 7 further team members including Property Managers, Assistants and Coordinators, Graduates and Apprentices.

The Taunton Estate Management team has an actively collaborative approach and operates as part of the larger multi-disciplinary Savills Taunton office who are integrally aligned with the Exeter team, alongside teams delivering a range of services including farm business consultancy, natural capital consultancy, forestry, rural agency, planning and building surveying in Taunton, together with development consultancy, residential sales, leisure and trade related consultancy, hotels and out of town retail. The team also works closely with other Savills specialists in the region in areas such as minerals surveying, commercial agency and retail. The local team is supported by the almost-limitless knowledge, resources and research within the national and international Savills network and as an integral member of the team you will be expected to liaise with your counterparts across the country and to contribute to business development throughout Savills both within and beyond the rural division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve the existing client base and contribute to the growth of the business and its profile in the region
  • Day to day running of rural estates and property
  • Assist in the strategic advice to clients
  • Provision of advice for landlord and tenant, rent reviews and property management
  • Building rapport with colleagues, clients, tenants, contractors and suppliers
  • Identifying opportunities to grow and expand the business

The role will play a key part in the delivery of fee earning and provide an excellent client service within the Taunton Estate Management team. The team has an established and varied client base, including private clients, charities, corporate and institutional bodies. The successful candidate will assume significant client facing responsibility and accountability for the delivery of the client's objectives. This role offers considerable opportunities for the candidate to progress their career. Savills offers unique training across a range of subjects which includes a comprehensive business management programme. There are also opportunities to be part of national boards and focus groups.

Key Skills

  • Must be either MRICS and/or FAAV qualified
  • The ability to engage with a variety of audiences
  • Good relationship, management and communication skills
  • The ability to deal with conflict and provide resolution
  • Self-motivated, goal driven and the ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Commercially aware, but with ability to vary approach dependent on circumstances
