Legal Cashier

We are looking to recruit a Legal Cashier for an exciting permanent opportunity with a highly regarded law firm based in Newcastle.

The role will suit a well-presented individual who has experience working within a legal accounts team. The role will require working as part of a team but also the ability to use their own initiative. The successful candidate must have flexibility depending on deadlines and workload.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible to the Director of Finance for producing all work to a high standard of accuracy
  • Provide professional and efficient support to the finance team
  • Post all daily client and business account transactions onto the system
  • Process bills, write offs internal transfers
  • Complete a daily bank reconciliation on both client and business account
  • Process all purchase ledger invoices
  • Make payments via the online banking system
  • Check and record all financial transactions, as per the daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly task sheets and ensure compliance at all times with the SRA Accounts Rules
  • Ensure the highest standards are maintained to continually improve the service given to clients
  • Ensure all firm's procedures are followed and adhered to
  • Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality at all times regarding the firm and its clients
  • Ad hoc accounting duties

Skills and Qualifications

  • Detailed knowledge and experience of dealing with the SAR's
  • Be able to read, understand and reconcile client ledgers accurately
  • Ability to prioritise and handle large volume of work meeting strict deadlines
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Demonstrate excellent numeracy
  • Ability to use Excel and Word
  • Ability to relate well with staff and to maintain high professional standards
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner both in writing and verbally, including dealing with correspondence and telephone calls
  • Demonstrate and use initiative to carry out work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate an enthusiastic, flexible and patient approach to work
  • Enthusiastic, well organised with a positive attitude
  • The ILFM qualification would be an advantage
