We are looking to recruit a Legal Cashier for an exciting permanent opportunity with a highly regarded law firm based in Newcastle.
The role will suit a well-presented individual who has experience working within a legal accounts team. The role will require working as part of a team but also the ability to use their own initiative. The successful candidate must have flexibility depending on deadlines and workload.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible to the Director of Finance for producing all work to a high standard of accuracy
- Provide professional and efficient support to the finance team
- Post all daily client and business account transactions onto the system
- Process bills, write offs internal transfers
- Complete a daily bank reconciliation on both client and business account
- Process all purchase ledger invoices
- Make payments via the online banking system
- Check and record all financial transactions, as per the daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly task sheets and ensure compliance at all times with the SRA Accounts Rules
- Ensure the highest standards are maintained to continually improve the service given to clients
- Ensure all firm's procedures are followed and adhered to
- Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality at all times regarding the firm and its clients
- Ad hoc accounting duties
Skills and Qualifications
- Detailed knowledge and experience of dealing with the SAR's
- Be able to read, understand and reconcile client ledgers accurately
- Ability to prioritise and handle large volume of work meeting strict deadlines
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
- Demonstrate excellent numeracy
- Ability to use Excel and Word
- Ability to relate well with staff and to maintain high professional standards
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner both in writing and verbally, including dealing with correspondence and telephone calls
- Demonstrate and use initiative to carry out work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrate an enthusiastic, flexible and patient approach to work
- Enthusiastic, well organised with a positive attitude
- The ILFM qualification would be an advantage
