Branch Manager (Sales) - Freight Forwarding - Manchester - Up to £50,000

About the Company

Our client is a well established, independent freight forwarder who offer seamless multi modal solutions in conjunction with their numerous global partners.

The purpose of this role will be to lead the branch, as Sales Branch Manager, as well as dealing with all aspects of forwarding. This position would be ideally suited for a BDM / Commercial Manager / Senior Operator (perhaps with some supervisory or management experience) who is ready to step into a Sales Branch Manager role whilst actively staying involved in the operations.

Branch Manager (Sales) - The Rewards

  • Salary - £40,000 -£50,000

Branch Manager (Sales) - Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a Multi-Modal position, ideally with a proven track record in Branch Sales and Financial Management
  • Hands-on current experience in air import/export and sea import/export (ocean import experience is very desirable)
  • Ability and confidence to deal with difficult customers if the need arises
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • IT literate (ability to utilize MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, etc)
  • Commercial awareness is essential in this role from Key Account involvement to new business sales
  • Knowledge of Cargowise Operating System would be an advantage

Branch Manager (Sales)- Responsibilities

Sales

  • Generate new customers to build a profitable portfolio of customers.
  • Create and implement sales growth strategy for the sales team.
  • Oversee the BDM's sales pipeline.
  • Have awareness of both the external and internal competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers and markets.

Operations

  • Oversee the planning, direction and coordination of the operations team.
  • Undertake operational work where required.

Brand

  • Positively grow our clients image through face-to-face visits and social media.

Finance

  • Manage BDM's targets, report sales team performance to Managing Director. Highlight any underperformance in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the sales/operations team's day-to-day tasks.
  • Decide the most appropriate key performance indicators for BDM's, assessing them annually.
  • Challenge BDM's to be committed to the growth of the company's turnover and profit.

People

  • Share knowledge with team.
  • Deliver the company's vision, mission and values.
  • Regularly communicate the performance of the sales and operations team, creating a positive atmosphere of feedback and improvement.
  • Develop a team of people who are innovative, enterprising and empowered to work independently and collaboratively in the best interests of the organisation.
  • Oversee a review of the training and competency requirements of the sales and operations team to ensure that the company maintains a continuous learning and improvement mindset.
