FE College is seeking dedicated SEN Tutors to join their team, focusing on students with profound and severe learning difficulties. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals who are experienced in a specialised sensory curriculum and non-verbal communication methods.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Develop and implement individualised educational plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
- Utilise sensory curriculum and communication devices effectively to enhance learning.
- Teach basic Maths and English at entry level to students with profound learning difficulties.
- Employ Makaton and other non-verbal communication techniques to facilitate interaction and learning.
- Monitor and record students' progress, adapting teaching methods and materials as needed.
- Collaborate with other educational professionals, parents, and caregivers to support students' educational and personal development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an SEN Tutor or in a similar role, specifically with non-verbal and severely learning-challenged students.
- Familiarity with sensory curriculums and the use of communication devices in educational settings.
- Proficient in Makaton or similar non-verbal communication methods.
- Ability to teach Maths and English at entry level.
- Strong understanding of the educational needs of students with profound and severe learning difficulties.
- Candidates with only mainstream school experience and those only experienced with ADHD and Dyslexia are not suitable for this role.
