Mental Health Nurse

We are looking for compassionate, caring, and experienced Mental Health Nurses to join one of the private medical centres in Northampton.

Description:

Working alongside our supportive team, the successful candidate will be expected to undertake and review Mental Health Care Plans, perform risk assessments, treatment plans, and arrange appropriate follow-ups.

  • Provide care plans including actions required by the patient in case of relapse.
  • Encourage and empower patients to have an optimum level of responsibility for their own care.
  • Independently carry out assessment of risk of relapse and refer to secondary care/alternative services if appropriate.
  • Support patients to adopt recovery strategies that promote their wellbeing, healthy lifestyle, independence, and self-care.
  • Review response to medication with clinical tools such as PHQ-9 or GAD-7.
  • Ensure the appropriate follow-up of patients.
  • Provide telephone and face-to-face consultations as required.
  • Carry out routine annual reviews including physical examination, blood pressure, height, and weight.
  • Deliver care that is evidence-based, reflecting current best practice and research, demonstrating clinical excellence and high standards.
  • Promote and maintain the safety, privacy, and dignity of all patients, respecting differences including spiritual and cultural beliefs.
  • Act, wherever applicable, in accordance with the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and associated policies and procedures.
  • Recognize the potential for or signs of patient harm, abuse, or neglect, including poor clinical practice, reporting all such concerns, and taking all reasonable steps to protect the patient.
  • Identify and report concerns regarding the public protection and safeguarding of adults and children who may be at risk.

Requirements:

  • Registered with the NMC; in current clinical practice
  • Significant experience of working in mental health and/or addiction
  • Empathy and an understanding of distressed patients, many of whom will have been reluctant to contact the service
  • Experience of working with sick health professionals
  • Experience of producing reports, assessments, and presentations involving highly complex information
  • MRCGP or MRCPsych or RMN + HHP or equivalent
  • Part 1 & 2 RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse or equivalent
  • Prescribing qualification
  • Evidence of postgraduate study in substance misuse or equivalent such as other specialist psychiatric experience in a related field (e.g., eating disorders)
