Maintenance Operative - Erneside Shopping Centre

Purpose of the Role

To work as part of a maintenance team based on-site and reporting into the Operations Manager, with a primary purpose to ensure that the shopping centre is presented to the highest possible standards, customer facilities are fully operational and statutory compliance is always maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake outside maintenance, when required
  • Regularly clear roof drains.
  • Power wash bins/service yards when necessary.
  • Escort contractors when required.
  • Carry out weekly sprinkler/generator tests.
  • Record water readings on weekly basis
  • Ensure that bins – cardboard/general waste are regularly emptied.
  • Bale cardboard as required.
  • Ensure that centre equipment – tractor/compactor/baler are serviceable at all times.
  • Ensure that the fabric of the car park/building are in good state of repair – reporting defects immediately to Centre Manager/Supervisor
  • Work with security to assist with incidents.
  • Grit/salt public and staff areas/ assist with flood cleanup in extreme weather conditions.
  • Paint out graffiti, when required
  • Litter pick during the day

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  1. Ability to work on own initiative and deal with demanding situations.
  2. Honest and reliable work ethic.
  3. Willingness to partake in on-site training for emergency procedures.
  4. Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Willingness to adopt a flexible approach to work patterns and work weekends/evenings as and when required.
  6. Accurate record keeping with good attention to detail.

Desirable

  1. Operational experience within a retailing environment.
  2. Basic knowledge of H&S legislation.
  3. Moderate DIY skills.

Working Hours - 40hrs per week as per rota including weekends and evenings

Salary - £11.50/hr
