Salary: £47,600 - £71,600 + performance-related bonus and a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The Digital Services team are expanding and currently recruiting for an OT - Cyber Security Digital Technology Lead.

The scope will range from the Energy Management platforms that interface to Grid scale generation sites and National Grid to Smart Infra solution and enterprise level IT systems that support our business and operational teams. As we deliver enhancements to our business capabilities, moving from a limited set of solutions to a modern, cloud based, application portfolio, we need to ensure we build this in a secure and robust manner.

The successful applicant will report to the Head of Operational Technology as part of an expanding team, with the ability to influence strategy and approach. This is a great opportunity to play a pivotal role in the transformation of Digital Services systems to secure, dynamic and robust platforms that can support the rapid expansion of our business to meet our Net Zero targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with SSE's central security teams to align on the protection patterns and techniques, Group security policies and standards that will be applied to the architecture designs for Digital Solutions. You will also provide expert guidance on security matters to our Solution Architects and Technical Specialists.
  • Ensuring compliance of the NIS Regulations, this involves maintenance of Cyber Assessment Frameworks and development and auditing of improvement plans to increase the maturity of cyber security within Digital Service.
  • Developing, reviewing and updating existing policy and procedures covering cyber security for all OT networks owned or operated by Digital Services and ensuring that the end-to-end process elements of any given OT service meets the organisational resilience and security requirements.
  • Working closely with the business and system owners to drive the maintenance of their cyber security risk registers for the OT elements or systems owned or operated by Digital Services.
  • Working with internal teams, vendors and specialist groups, to identify vulnerabilities of the operational technology systems and assist the support teams carrying out vulnerability assessments, and propose remediations as necessary.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Masters Level degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other related field is desirable.
  • Professional certification, such as a Global Industry Cyber Security Professional Certification (GICSP) or working towards something similar
  • The ability to translate and simplify complex technical information to a wide range of audiences including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of the operation and design of OT networks.
  • Experience with common information security management frameworks, such as National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cyber Security Framework, International Standards Organisation (ISO) 17799/27001, ISA 62443.
