Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ofsted rated "Good" single form entry primary school in Chester as they are looking to recruit a motivated and reliable teaching assistant for a long-term contract. In this role you will be supporting a pupil in year 2 on a 1:1 basis as they are non-verbal and diagnosed ASC (autistic spectrum condition).
Your new role
In your new role within this school, you will be supporting a pupil with SEN in year 2 on a 1:1 basis as they are non-verbal and diagnosed ASC. You will support your new pupil throughout the school day both inside and outside the classroom, ensuring that all activities are inclusive, accessible and that all triggers are effectively managed. As they are non-verbal, you will use PECs and Makaton to communicate and advocate for them. You will liaise with the class teacher to ensure that all learning material is tailored to your pupils' individual needs and hold sensory sessions in a separate class.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience working with children and young people in the last two years, as well as:
- Experience using PECs and/or Makaton
- Experience with SEN
- Experience holding sensory development sessions or sensory rooms
