Overview:
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Cleaner to join our team at a secondary school in Preston. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the school premises, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role is essential to the smooth operation of the school and contributes to creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Cleaning Duties: Perform daily cleaning tasks across various areas of the school, including classrooms, corridors, offices, toilets, staff rooms, and common areas.
Sanitizing Surfaces: Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as desks, chairs, door handles, and light switches to maintain hygiene standards.
Vacuuming and Mopping: Vacuum carpets and rugs, mop hard floors, and sweep outside areas as required.
Waste Management: Empty bins in classrooms, toilets, offices, and outdoor areas, ensuring waste is disposed of according to recycling and waste management policies.
Toilet Cleaning: Clean and restock toilets, ensuring soap, paper towels, and other necessary supplies are available at all times.
Window Cleaning: Occasionally clean internal windows, glass doors, and partitions to keep the school's appearance neat and clean.
Deep Cleaning: Perform periodic deep cleaning of areas such as sports halls, changing rooms, kitchens, and other high-traffic areas during school holidays or as directed.
Health and Safety Compliance: Follow health and safety procedures, including the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment (e.g., COSHH regulations), and report any hazards or maintenance issues to the school management.
Equipment Care: Maintain cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, and floor machines, ensuring they are in good working order and stored correctly after use.
Essential Requirements:
Attention to Detail: Ability to clean to a high standard, ensuring all areas of the school are thoroughly cleaned and maintained.
Time Management: Efficient in completing tasks within a set timeframe and able to prioritize duties during busy periods.
Reliability: Punctual and dependable, with a strong commitment to maintaining cleanliness throughout the school.
Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical tasks, including bending, lifting, and moving equipment or furniture, and standing for long periods.
Health and Safety Awareness: Knowledge of health and safety guidelines, including the proper use of cleaning products and equipment.
Desirable Experience:
Previous experience working as a cleaner in a school, office, or similar environment.
Understanding of COSHH regulations and safe chemical handling.
Basic knowledge of maintenance and cleaning equipment care.
Working Hours:
Part-time or full-time positions are available, with working hours typically before or after school hours, Monday to Friday. Flexibility may be required during school holidays or special events.
