Senior Business Development Manager (Funds & Asset Management) - Premier Global Law Firm

The firm's global Funds & Asset Management offering is an integral part of the Private Capital strategy which is a strategic priority for the firm. You will work alongside the Global Funds Steering Committee, and will define and drive a cohesive business development and marketing strategy across the firm. The role holder will have direct line management responsibility for a Senior BD Assistant and dotted-line responsibility for an international team of BD Managers, Executives and Assistants who have a Funds & Asset Management remit across the network. Working closely with the Global Head of BD for Finance and the leadership of the practice, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing day-to-day senior support and advice to the lawyers in the London Funds & Asset Management team. You will be expected to use market research and intelligence to identify new client and market targeting opportunities and subsequently recommend new business development ideas and actions. Acting as a lead client relationship manager for a group of priority clients, you will work with partners to develop coordinated international client targeting, cross selling and CRM programmes and will play an advisory and hands on role in the Funds & Asset Management and Tax pitching process, including devising and implementing a programme for client listening, pitch debriefs and matter reviews. On the marketing side, the Senior Business Development Manager will oversee marketing processes and work with the PR team to maintain effective press coverage. You will need to take a lead role in the generation of innovative marketing communications and in the organisation of marketing events and a programme of client hospitality. Devising a strategy for the group's legal directory process and overseeing its delivery by team members will also be a key area of focus.

Proactive, creative and tenacious, the ideal candidate will have significant relevant business development and marketing experience gained at Manager level within a professional services organisation, to include demonstrable success in working with senior management and of managing and developing the careers of team members both in a local office and remotely across the global network. With a high attention to detail and strong client focus, the Senior Business Development Manager will enjoy working to deadlines, juggling multiple projects and delivering under pressure, and will require excellent communication and persuasion skills in order to motivate fee-earners to deliver business goals. Subject matter or industry experience in relation to Funds & Asset Management is essential, as is an enthusiasm to develop an ongoing, in-depth understanding of the international market, deals, the key players, the competition, and the structures and approaches involved in this area.
