SEMH 121 teaching assistant - Blackburn - October start

Prospero Teaching are looking for a learning support assistant / 121 teaching assistant to cover a long term role at a primary school in Blackburn. The successful candidate will be required to support a student on a 121 basis who has Social, Emotional Mental Health, the role will start after the October half term and will continue on an ongoing basis and will be for the rest of the academic year.

The school is a 'good' primary school with a positive connection with the local area.
The role is to work closely with an individual in key stage 2, and you will be helping them with all aspects of their learning, and to help them with access to their curriculum and maintain a positive attitude towards their studies.

You will be required to be able to commit to the role on a full time basis and be consistent with praise and sanctions. You will need to build a relationship as quickly as possible with the pupil you are supporting and you will have help and supervision from teaching staff and senior leadership.

Experience, Training & Qualifications

  • Recent safeguarding course issued in the last year (essential, however we can provide training)
  • Recent prevent awareness & FGM training, issued in the last 3 years (essential, however we can provide training)
  • Recent experience of supporting secondary aged pupils with EBD/SEMH
  • Strong academic background in Maths, English & Science
  • Strong behaviour management, (training can be provided)

To be eligible for this role through Prospero Teaching, you must:

  • Hold right to live & work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced DBS certificate that is on the update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional references
