About the Job

As Space Planning Manager, your role will be to support the contract leads in delivering the operational and commercial aspects of the Unipart Logistics Space function across the Cowley site. The role will focus on the delivery of stock and space planning process.

As part of your key responsibilities you'll:

  • Propose supply chain solutions for UL DCs in line with the industry best practice and UL storage principals.
  • Drive a Health and Safety culture within Unipart and responsible for compliance with relevant regulations and environmental and quality standards within the team and their working environment.
  • Lead and manage the design, implementation and development of storage processes to create and maintain a robust framework for delivering both the day to day work and the business improvement plan going forward.
  • Influence the Stock and Space Planning and Operations Management teams to recommend actions to continually improve storage facilities in line with business needs.
  • Report on space utilisation/storage type occupancy, costs and productivity.
  • Provide space and storage forecasts for operational planning over short and medium term.
  • Audit site operations against the UL Principles and Standards. Identify areas of best practice and opportunities for improvement.
  • Successful delivery of project plans in terms of time, cost and quality.
  • Provide effective communications, updates and escalations as required to management teams.
  • Create a consistent reporting suite and output measuring critical stock and space metrics across the Cowley estate and contracts that are aligned and comparable.
  • Analyse longer term impacts of client growth and changes.
  • Design and maintain warehouse map and strategies, assign any required changes to Storage Analysts. Proactively understand and action changes in stock profiles.

About You

  • Able to interact at senior level with a high degree of gravitas, impact and credibility
  • Effective cross process working in a collaborative environment.
  • Able to build and develop relationships across all levels and functions and have experience of working with customers / stakeholders at a strategic level.
  • Experience of stock and space management across multiple contracts
  • Proven track record of delivering business improvement through the application of stock and space planning best practice.
  • Lean logistics and the development of lean thinking through the business.
  • Extensive knowledge of integrated supply chain systems (warehouse management, inventory management, space and storage planning).
  • Strong analytical skills. Including handling large datasets with appropriate software (eg advanced MS Excel and Access)
  • Strong project management skills. Proven ability in implementing storage change projects.
  • Experience supporting business cases and developing operational cost models for storage projects.
  • Able to present and communicate clearly analysis of complex problems to senior management team and recommendations on the best solution.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a challenging and constantly changing environment
  • Educated to ‘A' Level or equivalent qualification/experience.
