Production Team Leader

We are an award-winning company and one of Europe's leading designers and manufactures within the engineering sector. We employ over 250 staff and have a manufacturing base in Frimley, Surrey which spans over 5 plus units. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Production Team Leader to join our vibrant team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing people, procedures, and processes within the department, driving the team to meet and exceed business targets. This position requires a seasoned professional who can confidently lead a shift of around 30 individuals, including production operators and pickers.

Flexibility and dedication are key, as the role involves a rotating two-week shift pattern, with early shifts from 5:30 – 13:30, Monday to Friday, and late shifts from 13:00 – 21:30, Monday to Thursday, and 12:30 – 18:00 on Fridays. This commitment is reflected in a competitive salary that includes a shift allowance.

Reporting into the Production Manager, your role of Production Team Leader will have the Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring Quality Compliance: Understand and uphold product quality requirements, managing operations according to Quality Plans.
  • Overseeing Shift Changeovers: Efficiently manage shift changeover procedures to maintain seamless operations.
  • Managing Shift Rotas: Develop and oversee shift schedules to ensure optimal staffing levels for smooth process execution.
  • Maintaining Accurate Traceability: Ensure the traceability system is accurate and current, including job sheets, ID recording, and batch labelling.
  • Collaborating with Engineering: Work closely with the Engineering Team to address and resolve machine and process issues.
  • Monitoring Production Output: Take responsibility for production output and scrap rates during your shift, striving for continuous improvement.
  • Inter-Shift Communication: Maintain effective communication with other shifts regarding issues, quality concerns, and job status.
  • Upholding Housekeeping Standards: Ensure tidiness, cleanliness, and housekeeping standards are consistently maintained in and around the production area.
  • ISO Compliance: Ensure adherence to and compliance with ISO standards.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety requirements, maintaining safety standards at all times in the production areas.
  • Leadership and Communication: Lead by example, demonstrating Amazon's Behaviours and Values. Clearly communicate key messages and goals and enhance the team's reputation within the company.
  • Recruitment: Manage the recruitment process and ensure a successful induction of new team members.
  • Objectives/Goal Setting: Establish and agree on SMART objectives for individuals and the team, tracking performance accordingly.
  • Performance Management and Training: Conduct appraisals, provide regular and constructive feedback and address performance and conduct issues promptly and constructively with HR support. Identify and promote training and development opportunities.
  • Absence Management: Manage sickness and annual leave in line with company policy.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

To be successful for the production Team Leader role you will have demonstrable supervisory or people management experience with experience of undertaking appraisals and performance management procedures and dealing with conflict and disciplinary procedures. You will hold intermediate IT skills in MS Teams, Excel, and Word and have experience within production management. Ideally you will have proven experience understanding change management, KPI development, implementation, reporting and refinement and experience using ERP applications, albeit this is not essential.
