UKI Express Transport Ltd is a distinguished family-owned business with years of experience in the transportation industry. As we expand our European operations, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Trainee European Freight Forwarder.

About the Trainee European Freight Forwarder role:

As a Trainee European Freight Forwarder, you will support our experienced team in planning and managing European freight operations, including the customs clearance process. This role offers an excellent opportunity to learn and develop skills in logistics, customer service, and international transport.

Our Trainee European Freight Forwarder duties and key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in planning and coordinating collections and deliveries across Europe
  • Learning to maximise vehicle utilisation and optimise routes
  • Supporting in issuing clear instructions to drivers and subcontractors.
  • Helping maintain our Traffic Management System accurately
  • Reacting to changing situations to accommodate additional business while maintaining service performance
  • Demonstrating a positive response to customer needs and requirements.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and overseas partners
  • Assisting in arranging customs clearance for consignments in both origin and destination countries
  • Understanding and complying with customs regulations and documentation requirements
  • Coordinating with customs brokers and agents to ensure smooth customs clearance processes.

Our ideal Trainee European Freight Forwarder will have the below skills and experience:

  • Enthusiastic and eager to learn about the logistics industry
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to perform in a dynamic environment
  • Positive and customer-focused attitude
  • Good geographical knowledge of Europe or willingness to learn
  • Basic understanding of drivers' hours and working time directives is a plus
  • Computer literate, with basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Exce
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player with a proactive approach to supporting colleagues
  • Interest in learning about customs clearance processes and regulations
