Management Accountant

Posted by Robert Walters.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Management Accountant to join a highly respected professional services organisation, where your expertise will be central to the delivery of accurate financial information and the ongoing success of both entity and client finance operations. This role offers you the chance to work in a supportive environment where you will play a key part in monthly close processes, support audit compliance, and contribute to performance tracking.

As a Management Accountant, you will immerse yourself in a varied role that spans core accounting functions as well as meaningful collaboration with business partners. Your day-to-day activities will involve preparing essential journal entries during the monthly close process, conducting meticulous reconciliations to uphold data integrity, and producing insightful financial reports that inform strategic decisions. You will also play an integral part in supporting both entity-level finance operations and client-facing activities-tracking revenues, analysing margins, validating billings, and ensuring compliance with revenue recognition policies. By working closely with operational teams across the business, you will help explain variances in results while contributing valuable input into budgeting cycles.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post monthly journals including accruals and prepayments as part of the month-end close process, ensuring all entries are accurate and compliant with accounting standards.
  • Complete detailed balance sheet reconciliations each month to maintain data integrity across all accounts and proactively resolve any discrepancies identified.
  • Assist in compiling comprehensive monthly reporting packs, commentary, and dashboards that provide clear insights into financial performance for senior stakeholders.
  • Maintain thorough documentation for all financial processes and provide robust support for internal control frameworks to ensure audit readiness at all times.
  • Support the tracking of revenue streams, direct costs, and margin analysis across various client accounts by collaborating with relevant teams to gather necessary data.
  • Assist with variance analysis by investigating differences between actuals and forecasts or budgets, validating billing information, and preparing client profitability reports.
  • Help ensure accurate revenue recognition by identifying potential issues early on and escalating them appropriately to maintain compliance with relevant standards.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to gather inputs for financial analysis, explain variances in results, and deliver timely data that supports effective decision-making.
  • Contribute actively to budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting cycles by providing reliable financial data and insightful commentary on trends or anomalies.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at improving processes through automation or standardisation while maintaining master data accuracy within finance systems.

What You Bring:

The Management Accountant will bring technical proficiency and a genuine enthusiasm for working collaboratively within a diverse team environment. Your background includes hands-on experience with month-end close activities such as journal preparation and reconciliations-skills that are complemented by your strong grasp of accounting principles. You have demonstrated dependability through previous roles where accuracy was paramount; now you are ready to apply these strengths while supporting both internal controls and external audits. Your interpersonal skills enable you to communicate effectively with colleagues from various departments-whether gathering inputs for analysis or explaining variances clearly. Proficiency in Excel is second nature for you; meanwhile, your exposure to ERP systems means you can quickly adapt to new technologies. As someone who is actively pursuing further qualifications (such as ACA/ACCA/CIMA), you show commitment not just to personal growth but also to contributing positively within a supportive workplace culture. Above all else, your attention to detail ensures that every aspect of financial reporting meets the highest standards of accuracy.
