Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting for a literacy specialist teaching assistant to work with on a 121 basis with a year 10 pupil who has a EHCP at a large secondary school in Tameside.

This role is perfect for someone who has a strong background in English and maybe considering to start a PGCE in September 2026. You will deliver work to the student on a 121 basis, guiding them where possible providing regular progress reports to the teachers and student to help them progress in subjects as well as boosting their engagement in class as well as building on their and attainment levels.

Experience, Training and Qualifications of the Literacy support assistant:

English to A Level or degree level
Possess UK classroom experience
Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
Have experience working with SEND or disengaged secondary aged pupils
up to date safeguarding training issued in the last year (essential, however training can be provided)
Up to date prevent awareness training issued in the last 3 years (essential, however training can be provided)
Up to date behaviour management & FGM training (essential, however training can be provided)

To be eligible for this role, the potential Literacy support assistant must:

Hold the right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide a minimum of two professional child-related references.
