Position: L1 Support Engineer – Laptop Repair
Location: Inverness
Contract Type: Temporary, Project-based
Estimated Duration: One Month
Volume of Work: 589 laptops to be checked and repaired

Rate: £120 per day via umbrella (Inside IR35)

Job Overview:

Our client are seeking a Level 1 (L1) Support Engineer to provide on-site hardware repair and maintenance in Inverness. The role primarily involves inspecting and repairing loose hinges on EliteBook 830/840 G7 and G8 models. You will work under the guidance of a site contact to check all affected laptops, some stored and others in use, and perform necessary hinge tightening where required.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and repair EliteBook 830/840 G7 and G8 laptop hinges on-site.
  • Tighten loose hinges by removing and reassembling the display assembly, bezel, and hinge cover.
  • Maintain accurate records of laptops checked and repaired.
  • Collaborate with on-site contacts for guidance and logistics.
  • Handle laptops stored in various locations across the site and in situ.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and repair standards.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Knowledge:

Experience with laptop repair, specifically with EliteBook models or similar devices.

  • Problem Solving:

Ability to identify and resolve hardware issues related to laptop hinges.

  • Manual Dexterity:

Proficiency in handling delicate hardware components.

  • Attention to Detail:

Careful disassembly and reassembly of laptops.

  • Communication:

Ability to provide updates and feedback to site contacts and technicians.

  • Estimated volume of laptops:

589 units.

  • Work Scope:

Repair involves tightening 3 screws on each hinge, requiring the removal of the display assembly, bezel, and hinge cover.

  • Previous Experience:

Similar hinge issues have been observed at other customer sites but not on this scale.
