Reed Education is seeking a dedicated SENCO to join a special academy in Croydon. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a passion for education and a commitment to supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Day to Day of the role:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Academy's SEND strategy.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure that the needs of all students with SEND are met.
  • Oversee the assessment and identification of pupils with SEND and ensure that appropriate support plans are in place.
  • Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents, and other agencies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision and contribute to the Academy's self-evaluation.
  • Ensure that the Academy's SEND policies and practices are in line with current legislation and best practice.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • SENCO qualification or nearing completion.
  • Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience working as a SENCO.
  • Robust understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Knowledge of SEMH education and how to support the additional needs associated with SEMH pupils.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a supportive staff team.
  • High aspirations for self-development and for the achievements of young people.
