Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of Suffolk County Council for part time Registration Assistant to join their Register Office in Lowestoft on temporary basis till May 2025.

The Suffolk Registration Service is responsible for the registration of births, deaths and marriages, civil partnership and citizenship ceremonies. Registration Assistants carry out a varied range of administration support functions across all areas of the service; You will be taking phone calls from members of the public, responding to questions, booking appointments and ceremonies, issuing certificates and carrying out searches of the historic records. This will include the handling of financial transactions and the responsibility of working with secure stock and maintaining records in relation to a range of registration service activities.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent IT skills, be reliable with strong attention to detail, prioritise workloads. Excellent verbal and communication skills are vital, along with a desire to learn and maintain excellent service delivery. Good level of understanding of registration law and practice is desirable; however training will be provided.

DBS check will be carried out prior to starting along with completed 3 years reference history. Candidates will need to commit to start ASAP once the checks are completed.

Post is offered on temporary basis until May 2025, with working hours Monday and Tuesday 9am-4.30pm (with lunch 1pm-2pm), but some flexibility is expected as you might be asked to cover sickness / holidays.
