Purchasing Manager

A global manufacturing company based in Burton, are looking for a Purchasing Manager to join their team. As the Purchasing Manager, you will lead, manage and motivate the Purchasing Team and be responsible for performing strategic procurement activities across various spend categories, aiming to find better deals and more profitable suppliers

Duties include:

Purchasing:

  • Procurement of equipment, material, and services, both direct and indirect, managing vendors and suppliers
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, contribute to the overall success of the organisation's purchasing operations
  • Develop, lead and execute all purchasing activities
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries using MRP
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce cost and improve effectiveness

Suppliers and Vendors:

  • Supplier relationship management and negotiation to ensure cost effective and high-quality procurement
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
  • Develop and maintain key supplier relationships
  • Negotiate and influence suppliers to achieve the best market rates for specified products
  • Review supplier performance and highlight any contractual risks to the Management Team, including any financial risks from committed orders

Budgets and Cost:

  • Analyse market trends, forecast demand, and mitigate risks to optimize the procurement process
  • Manage stock levels to meet budgeted inventory targets
  • Contribute to and deliver agreed budgeted cost savings
  • Understand pricing strategy, margins and volumes associated with each product.
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking

The Purchasing Manager will have proven working experience in a Purchasing Manager role. You will also be fully qualified in Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) and have sound knowledge and practical working experience of MRP systems

In return you will be offered a salary of £50,000 - £52,000 depending on experience. Working hours are Monday to Thursday, 7:30am - 4.00pm, Friday 7:30am - 12:30pm with half an hour for lunch.

Benefits include 25 days holiday plus statutory bank holidays. Company bonus, - 10% in 2024, 15% in 2025, 7% Ers pension, 3 x salary Death in Service.
