Lead Accountant – Walsall
This is a key role in the organization's accounting operations – we are looking for a member of CIMA or CCAB body with significant post qualification experience and undertaking active CPD.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and finalization of monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Coordinate and lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing detailed variance analysis and financial projections to support business decision-making.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Manage the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments to suppliers and prompt collection from customers.
- Liaise with external auditors during annual audits, providing all necessary financial records and support to facilitate the audit process.
- Advise on tax planning and compliance, including the preparation and submission of tax returns and liaising with tax authorities as required.
- Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff, providing training and development to enhance their skills and performance.
- Research and implement new accounting software and systems to improve financial reporting efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
- A relevant degree such as bachelor's/ master's degree in accounting, Finance, Education, Business/Administration, Business, Economics, Auditing, Business Law, MBA, Public Administration.
- Licensing or Certifications: CIMA, CCAB, CPD
