Contracts Advisor

Company client has an exciting contract opportunity for a Contracts Advisor to join our client, a multinational oil and gas corporation based in Mossorran, Fife. This is a full-time 12-month contract on-site, operating under IR35 regulations.

Main Functions:

The Contracts Advisor serves as a technical leader, specializing in contract planning, development, and administration, as well as materials management matters.

Specific Job Requirements / Skills

  • The Contracts Advisor will have relevant experience in the development of Project/Programs & Maintenance contracts, bid analysis, award, mobilization, and benchmarking with predominantly UK-based service providers across all craft disciplines (Access, Insulation, Piping, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, etc.).

Responsibilities:

  • Contracting and Materials Management Strategy Development
  • Translate project-specific objectives and strategies into appropriate contracting and materials management strategies.
  • Advise Project Management on quality issues and assist in their resolution.
  • Facilitate Contracting Strategy Workshops (CSWs) by evaluating lead case and fallback options, assessing contractor interests, capabilities, and compensation options, and considering partner requirements.
  • Contract Planning
  • Engage a broad contractor community through screening and pre-qualification activities.
  • Review and endorse proposed bid slates, incorporating best practices and critical success/failure criteria.
  • Contract Administration
  • Scrutinize complex administration matters, such as incentive plans and major claims, with strategic and critical thinking.

Skill Development:

  • Mentor and develop SMEs, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Specialists, and Contracts Engineers (CE) Advisors.
  • Provide training in contracting sponsored courses (Contract Planning, Development and Administration, Bid Review, Advanced Contracts Strategy Management).
  • Assess organizational competencies and skill development plans.

Organization, Systems, Processes, Procedures:

  • Champion continuous improvement and incorporate lessons learned.
  • Assess that the organization's systems, processes, and procedures deliver intended business results.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Required experience in contracts engineering/administration/materials management.
  • Project leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Broad understanding of project execution and contracting principles.
  • Expertise in commercial negotiations, contractor management, and contract administration.
  • Willingness to travel domestically or overseas for project sites.
  • Management experience on major projects.
  • Owner/Operator experience in project management roles.
  • Knowledge of Company controls requirements (e.g., Business Standards).
