This international law firm are looking to recruit an experienced Associate into their growing and ambitious Pensions Advisory Practice based in London.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in such matters and a willingness to develop the knowledge and skills to provide this type of advice. This role suits someone who enjoys the advisory side of pensions and has an interest in private client work.

  • The team of experts assists trustee boards, employers, charities, institutions, and public bodies in meeting their pension obligations. By bringing together a large group of specialists with diverse experience, they develop tailored solutions to clients' pension issues.
  • While they handle cutting-edge pensions law, they are also known for their practical, commercial, and straightforward advice on day-to-day pension issues.
  • The pensions team also provides advice to individuals and to employers and trustees managing overseas pension arrangements.

Role Overview

  • This role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in private client pensions work, which is varied, highly rewarding, and intellectually stimulating.
  • It involves dealing directly with member queries, death benefit cases, pension sharing on divorce, and member complaints.
  • This role also provides top-end occupational pensions advice to employers and trustees.

Main Responsibilities

  • Liaising with clients, team members, and counsel as required
  • Preparing and drafting clear, concise, and unambiguous correspondence and legal advice, including conducting legal research using internal and external resources
  • Contributing to the team's profile and engaging in business development activities, including assisting in the preparation of legal articles and developing an informal network of internal and external contacts.

Attributes/Skills Required

  • Qualified lawyer in England and Wales, looking to progress their career at an established firm with expertise in pensions advisory
  • Strong technical background in black letter law
  • Keen interest in non-contentious matters
  • Technical mindset with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and numerical communication skills
  • Ability to acquire and apply fundamental and up-to-date legal knowledge
