Salary: £19,054 - £19,372 per annum
Working Pattern: Full time Monday to Friday (8:30 - 5:30pm)
Contract Length: Permanent
Location: Glebelands Day Services, Shoreham by Sea

About You

To become a Support Worker with us you will be:

About Glebelands

We are a Day Opportunity Service for adults, who experience a range of conditions which impact on their lives such as Autism, Dementia, Learning Disabilities and Brain Injuries. We provide access to tailored programmes of activities in a comfortable, caring, and valuing environment. Most importantly, we strive to ensure that everyone using our service and our staff have a great day!

We have a skilled, knowledgeable, and experienced team who are working towards further developing our community engagement activities. We offer several gardening sessions our garden room and greenhouse are bursting with young plants. Music is a large part of what we do, as well as specific singing and movement sessions the service is filled with music in most rooms. Our afternoons exploring favourite music and artists are very popular. We are developing some exciting new sessions including, Photography and a Newsletter through which we are planning to celebrate our achievements and share our stories.

Key Skills(Please note these will be used for short listing, please use these points to refer to in your application).

  • A basic understanding of the needs of the people you will be supporting and their rights as an individual.
  • You will understand individual situations and be able to identify basic practical solutions. Be kind, supportive, encouraging and non-judgemental whilst building on people's strengths that support people's goals. Sharing communication at the daily handover to ensure there is a continuity of care and to write daily records for the people you support.
  • Able to communicate clearly with the people who use the service and participate in conversations with family members and paid/unpaid carers and professionals/ colleagues from time to time.
  • The ability to adapt communication appropriately and use suitable tools where needed (e.g. basic Makaton), along with being aware of the sensitivities of language when working with a diverse range of people
