The Role:

We are looking for a passionate and creative Part-Time Vocational Lecturer who is excited about delivering an interesting and varied program. Your role will involve teaching Functional Skills English and Maths, as well as employability skills, while also leading community projects that bring learning to life. This is more than just a teaching position-it's an opportunity to engage with students who have previously faced challenges in education, helping them build confidence, develop essential skills, and discover a path to success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver dynamic and interactive lessons in Functional Skills English and Maths that make learning accessible and enjoyable for all students.
  • Teach employability skills, including job application techniques, interview preparation, and workplace communication, to equip students for their future careers.
  • Lead and manage community-based projects that provide practical experiences and allow students to apply their learning in real-world contexts.
  • Tailor your teaching to meet the diverse needs of students, many of whom may have had negative experiences in education.
  • Monitor and support student progress, offering encouragement and guidance to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to continually enhance the curriculum, ensuring it remains relevant, engaging, and supportive of student needs.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every student feels valued and capable of success.
  • Build strong relationships with students, understanding their individual needs and motivations to better support their journey.

About You:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent).
  • A strong background in teaching Functional Skills English and Maths, with a passion for helping students succeed.
  • Experience in delivering employability skills and supporting community projects is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students who have struggled in education, with the creativity and empathy to inspire them to achieve their potential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • A commitment to creating an engaging and varied learning experience that meets the needs of all students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a dedicated team of educators.
  • An understanding of the barriers students may face and strategies to help them overcome these challenges.
