Quality Technician

What will the role involve?

  • Examination and inspection of Pure Air, Pure Fluid, Cabin air and Last chance filter elements and parts at First Article Inspection, First-off or Final Inspection and test stages; and assessment of product against the relevant specification.
  • To support the Operator Certification Programme by providing specific training, guidance and monitoring by audit of manufacturing and assembly personnel.
  • Conduct product and process auditing in support of our various quality system approvals.
  • Provide training in QC techniques to other personnel, as required.
  • Liaison with module shift and line leaders, design and manufacturing engineering, supply chain, purchasing and production personnel as required in order to highlight major or continuous problems and to recommend solutions.
  • Working within CI project teams to analyse quality problems and help provide process improvements. To provide advice, training and monitoring with respect to measurement techniques used within Pall and to ensure those techniques meet with customer and industry expectations
  • Liaison with module shift and line leaders, manufacturing engineering and production personnel as required ensuring that measurement techniques which are specified are effectively defined.
  • Where required provide general support and implementation of SPC across the manufacturing cells.
  • Raising of Reject Reports and ensuring effective disposition as instructed, including scrap, return to supplier, concessions and rework.
  • Completion of other control documentation as detailed within the Quality System.
  • Maintenance and improvement of Quality Control activities defined within the Quality System.
  • Liaison and support for other members of the quality measurement team.
  • To contribute towards the enhancement of production quality methods.
  • To assist suppliers with Quality Method Training and ensure the suitability and effectiveness of their measurement techniques.
  • Programming of co-ordinate measuring machines.

What are we looking for?

  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship with the relevant qualifications achieved therein.
  • Preferably City & Guilds Craft/Technician.
  • Quality Auditing qualification preferable.
  • Related engineering background including appreciation of: metal cutting; assembly techniques; operation of mechanical devices;
  • Inspection techniques; knowledge of Quality System requirements;
  • Good computer and general literacy with an ability to produce clear and concise reports;
  • Comprehensive knowledge and operating capability of specialist measuring equipment such as Co-ordinate Measuring Machines, Optical scanning equipment, Surface Finish measuring instruments etc.
  • Excellent spoken and communication skills
  • Organisational skills and a methodical approach
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and meet project deadlines
  • Close attention to detail
  • Good team working skills
  • Solid background of manufacturing/mechanical engineering, inspection techniques, knowledge of Quality Control systems and cleanliness standards.
  • Miscellaneous: (eg must be prepared to work unsociable hours, do shift work, hold a current driving licence, have a passport, be prepared to travel abroad, etc)
  • Ability to work using own initiative and to plan product and personnel audit programmes.

Agreeable personality to communicate and establish good working relationships and the ability to make reasoned and objective decisions where relevant.

What else do you need to know?

  • The pay rate would be £15 - £16 per hour
  • Working Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm
  • Enhanced holiday of 33 days per year and pension
