Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant (HCA) with a background in complex care to join our dynamic team to support a 6 year old girl. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for patient care and possess the competencies required to support patients with advanced healthcare needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medications in accordance with prescribed protocols and procedures.
- Perform nebulisation (aerosol therapy) to assist patients with respiratory needs.
- Conduct regular patient observations, including monitoring vital signs and reporting any changes to the healthcare team.
- Carry out tracheal suctioning to maintain airway patency for patients with tracheostomies.
- Assist with ventilation via tracheostomy, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Provide high-quality personal care and support to patients, promoting dignity and respect at all times.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
Key Competencies:
- Medication Administration: Proven ability to administer medications safely and accurately, adhering to protocols.
- Nebulisation (Aerosol Therapy): Skilled in providing nebulisation treatments to patients with respiratory conditions.
- Observations: Proficient in conducting and recording patient observations, including vital signs.
- Tracheal Suctioning: Experienced in performing tracheal suctioning to ensure clear airways for patients with tracheostomies.
- Ventilation via Tracheostomy: Knowledgeable in assisting with ventilation for patients with tracheostomies, ensuring proper function and patient comfort.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in a complex care setting.
- Relevant healthcare qualifications and certifications.
- Strong understanding of complex care needs and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
