Fire Risk Assessment Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Fire Risk Assessment Manager to ensure all residential and non-residential buildings conform to building regulations and technical standards specifically in relation to fire safety. This will be through reviewing and assisting in the FRA process with the current contractor who provides this function. This role will be responsible for the preparation, delivery, and monitoring of fire risk assessments alongside the contractor.

Freebridge Community Housing is the largest provider of housing in West Norfolk, set up in 2006 to receive the transfer of homes from the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. Today, we own and manage around 7,000 homes across West Norfolk, making a difference to thousands of customers within communities across an area of almost 550 square miles. We have an annual turnover of £30m and employ well over 200 people, including our own Property Services team. Over the last 14 years, there have been numerous achievements, not least delivering our tenants' promises and bringing homes to the Decent Homes Standard, affording our customers a much better quality of living.

Requirements

  • Be an ambassador of inspiration for Freebridge Community Housing mission, vision, and values
  • Provide assurance to the Head of Safety that all activities related to fire safety demonstrate compliance and all relevant standards are met. Producing reports where necessary to inform senior leaders and the Board of fire related statics and actions
  • Carry out reviews of fire risk assessments of residential and non-residential buildings to ensure identified actions and works have been completed. Where necessary also identifying fire hazards and risks, and effectively recording findings to assist with decision making
  • Responsible for monitoring progress, checking and post inspecting works have been completed in accordance with fire related Building Regulations, fire safety standards, specifications, and the Freebridge Home Standard
  • Liaising closely with colleagues to ensure that fire safety messages are communicated to tenants and their individual needs are assessed and mitigated in relation to fire
  • Lead on the management and development of the Fire Risk Technician and when this post ends take responsibility for the additional Fire Risk Assessor

Knowledge and Experience

  • In depth knowledge of Fire Safety Regulations, legislation, and compliance standards
  • Good all-round knowledge of the key principles and main legislative acts in relation to Health and Safety in the context of the construction/ building industry sector
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure, deliver to strict deadlines and manage conflicting priorities
  • Experienced in carrying out fire risk surveys and identifying non-compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and best practice
  • Track record of keeping up to date with fire regulations, standards, and best practice
  • Experienced in identifying compliant solutions to fire hazards and risks
  • IFSM Accreditation for Fire Risk Assessment or equivalent (General Needs, Extra Care and Sheltered Schemes)
