Data Scientist

A 6 month day rate contract is available for an Operational Risk and Controls Analyst to join the risk team at a global asset & investment management business. The analystwill assist the Risk Director in managing non-financial risks for the business. This position is temporary, filling in for someone who is currently working on a controls and governance improvement project.

The chosen candidate will handle operational risk tasks for the company's international operations, collaborating with the Risk Director to ensure effective business oversight by developing and implementing a thorough risk management system. This job is ideal for someone with experience in wealth or asset management and an interest in various non-financial risk areas, such as operational, resilience, IT, and cybersecurity.

Job Responsibilities

  • Help the Risk Director create and explain the risk management framework, including processes for identifying and handling risks, managing issues, and ensuring business resilience.
  • Assist in developing the Risk Function to act as a supportive partner to the business, offering valuable reports and oversight.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and experts to implement a new risk management system (GRC) across the business.
  • Ensure risks are identified, measured, addressed, and reported promptly.
  • Help conduct detailed risk analyses to spot potential risks and ensure strong controls are in place.
  • Regularly review Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) across the business.
  • Participate in managing incidents.
  • Prepare and deliver risk reports to business teams and governance forums.
  • Manage ongoing risk management processes, including scenario modeling for regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well with key internal stakeholders.

  • 3-5 years of experience in risk management or similar skills, ideally in Wealth/Asset Management.
  • Experience in setting up or improving internal processes.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills to challenge existing processes and suggest better solutions.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to interpret large amounts of data.
  • Positive attitude, strong people skills, and excellent communication skills.
  • Background in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or similar (STEM degree preferred but not required).
  • Quick learner who can understand complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Rate: £425 - £525 per day Inside IR35

Working Pattern: Hybrid 2-3 days a week in Mayfair office

Duration: Initial 6 months with realistic extension outlook

Candidates with Investment or Asset Management backgrounds will be preferred, especially if you have histroy of a similar position.
