If so, our client, an established education provider located in Dover, is currently looking to recruit a Kitchen Assistant to work on a temporary basis. This role will be paying between £11.44 per hour. This position will start on Monday 18th November so you must be able to start on this date.
As the Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting various aspects of basic food and housekeeping services. Your role will contribute to creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for students, staff, and visitors.
As a Kitchen Assistant your responsibilities would include:
- Assisting with basic food preparation and serving meals for students and staff in accordance with established menus and dietary requirements.
- Setting up the school hall for lunch times, including tables, chairs, and serving stations, and ensure they are kept clean and organized during mealtimes.
- Support kitchen staff in food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and assembling food trays.
- Help maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in dining areas, by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitising floors on a regular basis. Empty rubbish bins, collect recyclables, and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel for prompt resolution.
- Provide friendly and helpful assistance to students, staff, and visitors, addressing inquiries and requests in a courteous manner.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and hygiene standards, including proper handling of food, cleaning chemicals, and personal hygiene practices.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of students, staff, and visitors.
Person Specification:
- Must have a valid Enhanced DBS
- Previous experience working in a kitchen environment, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
- Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions accurately.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and other team members.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry objects for extended periods.
