  • **Working in a small SEND unit within a primary school to support children with severe learning disabilities and complex additional needs.

Requirements:

  • At least a bachelor's degree in psychology, or a related field.
  • Some understanding of complex needs and how these can be supported.
  • An adaptable and flexible personality.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with children with diverse needs.
  • Experience of working with children with complex needs is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.

The Role

As an SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support children with complex learning needs in a flexible and empathetic manner to ensure that they achieve their best and develop essential social and academic skills. The support that you will offer will be provided in both 1-2-1 and small group settings to suit the needs of each individual student. You will work in close collaboration with teaching staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and will monitor the progress of pupils to devise effective support strategies and adapt learning materials accordingly. You will attend meetings with parents, teachers, and other professionals to discuss student progress and develop strategies for continued improvement.
