Dietetic Assistant

As you work 37.5 hours a week, you will join a team that provides specialist inpatient eating disorder care and support to children and young people in Hatfield, Hertfordshire.

You will work under the supervision of the Registered Dietitian, which will see you take responsibility for supporting the day-to-day duties, including providing support for therapeutic interventions, collecting and monitoring baseline nutritional data and reviewing the young persons' nutritional needs.

As a Dietetic Assistant, you will participate in the preparation and updating of information and resources for individuals and groups, which will see you review young peoples compliance with nutritional advice, dietary preference and intake and provide reports on their progression.

Other responsibilities:

  • Assist and participate in the planning and facilitation of a range of training sessions and group work
  • Collect data for audit or research purposes and record information accurately
  • Promote healthy eating to young people within a nutrition education framework
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is in place for a safe discharge, including appropriate follow-up

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Experience of working within a CAMHS and/or eating disorder service
  • The NCFE CACHE level 2 Certificate in Healthcare Support Services OR The NCFE CACHE level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support
  • Associate member of the British Dietetic Association
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of nutrition and dietetics as it relates to eating disorders
  • An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other disabilities
  • Theoretical knowledge of Eating Disorders

Location: Rhodes Wood Hospital. Shepherds Way, Hatfield AL9 6NN

You will be working at Rhodes Wood Hospital, a specialist Inpatient Eating Disorder service for children and young people aged 8-18 years.

Situated in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. All children and young people have their own en-suite bedrooms. The services emphasise not only the mental wellbeing of young people but also their educational, emotional and physical needs
