About Us

Established in 2021, Shinfield Studios is a state of the art, purpose-built studio facility located close to Reading in Berkshire.

It is one of the largest studio complexes in the UK with 18 purpose-built sound stages, workshops and contemporary offices - all designed to service the largest blockbuster film and television productions in the world.

The studios are within Wokingham Borough's Thames Valley Science Park, ideally situated with great transport links - 30 mins by rail to central London from Reading and 30 mins by car from Heathrow Airport. The studios are easily accessible for crew and talent, with plenty of parking on site.

The Role

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Building Services Engineer (BSE) will take ownership of of the day to day running of the studio and ensure client expectations are met.

You will be required to work as part of a team and will be customer facing.

Working hours are 40 hours per week between the hours of 8:00am and 17:00pm Monday to Friday.

Key Accountabilities

  • Carrying out reactive and emergency breakdown tasks allocated
  • Carrying out inspections, fault finding and diagnosis
  • Maintaining site based records and log books
  • Carrying out general cleaning and housekeeping to maximize life expectancy of all equipment
  • To carry out smaller general groundwork and maintenance tasks including fencing, key clamp, posts, paving, road surfaces, manholes, line markings, surface and foul drainage, drain works and emergency spills
  • Installation and replacement of ceiling tiles and grid
  • Installation and replacement of ironmongery and locks.
  • Installation and repair of sanitary ware, point of use heaters, showers, etc. in line with manufacturer's instructions
  • Carrying out painting and decorating works when required following client vacation
  • Legionella testing when required
  • Ensuring all tasks are completed in accordance with agreed service levels and completing field service reports on PDA using inhouse loc8 system
  • Working to all health, safety, compliance and local policies and procedure
  • Maintain, clean and report any issues with electric vehicles.

Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Provide first class customer service at all times.
  • Customer service driven.
  • Desirable commercial industry experience and knowledge of sector.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulation Qualified.
  • Suitable electrical competence qualification.
  • Flexible, outgoing, friendly personality with a positive attitude for a 'can do' culture and approach to differing people and situations.
  • Excellent ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
  • Strong team player and orientation towards teamwork.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and confidence skills.
  • The ability to trouble-shoot problems and think laterally.

  • Health and Safety aware.

  • Personality: Self driven, results orientated and a confident communicator. Responsible attitude, dependable and punctual. Keen to develop their own skills and be a key team player.
  • Literacy and Numeracy: Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Business Skills: Must be confident and professional when dealing with customers, face-to-face and via telephone/emails.
