SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant passionate about supporting children with Autism and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 support professional to work closely with a child in Reception who requires targeted assistance with communication, interaction, and emotional regulation. This is a long-term position at a welcoming and inclusive school in Warwick, with the possibility of becoming permanent if the placement proves successful. It's an exciting opportunity to make a profound difference in a young child's educational and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support tailored to the unique needs of a child with Autism and SEMH in a Reception class.
  • Assist in delivering activities and interventions aimed at promoting communication, social interaction, and emotional well-being.
  • Adapt to the child's individual learning style, using creative and nurturing approaches to enhance their engagement and progress.
  • Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behavior.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages the child's confidence and independence.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to ensure the child's needs are met and their development is regularly monitored.
  • Be open to feedback and willing to embrace the school's ethos and collaborative approach to learning.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and parents to ensure a cohesive support plan for the child.
  • Maintain detailed records of the child's progress, including any adjustments made to meet their evolving needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children who have special educational needs (Autism, Communication and Interaction, SEMH).
  • Willingness to embrace feedback and support the school's inclusive, nurturing approach.
  • Level 2 (or higher) Teaching Assistant qualification or equalivalent
