We have an exciting new opportunity for an Interaction Designer.

The successful candidate will join one of our top clients and work in the User Centred Design Team within their Digital Delivery Hub which is a part of the Data, Technology and Innovation (DTI) Division.

As an Interaction Designer you will operate within a specialist user-centred design (UCD) team to help increase the maturity of UCD across the organisation. You will provide expert interaction design delivery to emerging multi-disciplinary digital product teams, on both new and existing services.

You will:

  • Help teams to see their service through a people lens to discover opportunities to improve the life of users.
  • Design elegant interaction design solutions that solve real user problems using data, design thinking and agile ways of working.
  • Be an expert in producing prototypes (html and figma), and iterating designs based on data and evidence.
  • Approach prototyping and ideation as a team activity, actively soliciting input and collaboration.
  • Document hypotheses and articulate how and why designs will impact users
  • Put accessibility and inclusion at the heart of your interaction design decisions, helping create products that work for our diverse range of users.
  • Advocate for interaction design and show your project colleagues the value of design activities.
  • Contribute to and use the emerging business design system.
  • Be an active member of the business service and interaction design community and contribute to initiatives to increase maturity within the profession.

Essential skills:

  • An ability to design interaction solutions for complex systems.
  • An ability to generate multiple solutions to a problem and use hypotheses to help test your ideas.
  • An expert in user-centred design ways of working and how interactions design integrates with other roles to achieve successful outcomes.
  • The ability to use quantitative and qualitative data about users to inform interaction design artefacts.
  • Fluent in a number of prototyping techniques, from paper prototyping to HTML prototypes, and an ability to select the most appropriate method for each context.
  • Identify, communicate and work within constraints.
  • The ability to work closely with key stakeholders and meet their needs with the service improvements you design.
