Salary: Up to £30k (dependant on experience)

Location: Dorking - Hybrid working (3 days in office)

Our client is seeking an experienced Digital Merchandiser who will be optimising customer on-site experience to drive conversion, order value, basket size and revenue, through the creation and implementation of the full search and merchandising strategy across the website.

Main duties:

  • Agree and deploy merchandising strategy with line manager and senior management.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the merchandising strategy using current 3 rd party software and tools.
  • Work with the Head of Performance and/or SEO agencies to ensure all pages are optimised for Google ranking.
  • Drive up/cross sell throughout the website.
  • Responsible for the creation, targeting and maintenance of rules, tag assignments and widgets within 3 rd party software to achieve merchandising goals.
  • Manage and maintain 'pinned' items within categories based on merchandising criteria and strategy.
  • Accountable for accurately merchandising and categorising new and existing products within admin e.g. categories, primary categories, keywords, meta descriptions, tags
  • Assist with discovering, suggesting, creating, and populating new categories.
  • Responsible for keeping categories healthy and relevant by continuously adding and removing relevant/irrelevant products.
  • Analysing product and category performance on a continuous basis, taking into account: trends, occasions, sitewide visibility, overall sitewide metrics e.g. page views.
  • Reporting back to the wider team with analysis on general performance and making and implementing data-driven recommendations.
  • Initiate training on 3 rd party software for other members of the team and provide support during the learning process.
  • Responsible for the ongoing performance of 3 rd party partners and software, ensuring they fulfil their contractual obligations and flagging to management when this isn't the case.
  • Ensure all new products appear in Google Shopping Feed.
  • Continuous analysis and improvement on YOY product sales performance, ensuring products are achieving the visibility they need on site to achieve sales growth.
  • Manage the cut off dates of personalised and DD lines within categories and around key occasions.
  • Monitor stock levels and expiry dates and use this information to make alterations to product visibility where appropriate.
  • Establish a best practice with on-site merchandising and report back with information on tools and strategies that have performed well.
  • Ensure line manager is informed of any software/UI updates to 3 rd party search/merchandising software.
  • Engage with global industry best practices and analyse competitors' web content to provide recommendations on eCommerce trends and opportunities.
  • Department cover where required.

Experience required:

  • Extensive experience in a merchandising role in an eCommerce environment; with demonstrable trading success.
  • Microsoft office experience, experienced knowledge of Excel formulas and functions.
  • Proven experience and ability to work within an entrepreneurial and fast-paced retail or similar organisation, where everyone is hands-on and where the focus is on delivery.
  • Strong communication/influencing skills to work with the different teams and commercial partners, and collaborative in their working style.
  • Strong sense of brand value and how to influence it positively.
