Children's Home - Team Leader

The successful candidate will work alongside the Registered Manager to shape the development of the first two children's homes, through registration with Ofsted, and beyond.

As a Team Leader, you will be required to lead shifts, as part of a rota system, when on duty and provide support and guidance to the front-line practitioners on a day-to-day basis and through formal line management responsibilities.

You will also be required to carry out sleeping-in duties, for which an additional allowance will be paid.

Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Will work alongside senior managers to ensure risk assessments and related management plans are implemented effectively, reviewed regularly, and updated as required.
  • Provide inspirational care, tailored to the individual needs of the children and young people which facilitates a sense of belonging, assists them to understand, address and work through their past experiences and present difficulties and behaviours and be able to prepare, take responsibility for and achieve their full potential.
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of children, representing the children's home in relevant forums and discussions.
  • Work directly with the young person using theoretical approaches and models of working to enable them to understand their past, to manage their feelings, frustrations, and behaviours and to enable them to make positive life choices.
  • Support the day to day physical and emotional needs of the children and young people in accordance with racial, cultural, religious, health care and linguistic and dietary needs. Support and enable children and young people to attend school, enjoy leisure activities, stay healthy and also keep themselves safe.
  • Work flexibly, including unsociable hours and shifts on a rota basis, including sleep-ins, weekend, and bank holiday working. This may include participation in holidays with the children and young people. and supporting other homes in the organisation when required.
  • Ensuring that living spaces and the children and young people's bedrooms are both clean and safe while respecting privacy. You will also be required to undertake everyday tasks such as shopping, cleaning and cooking, as any good parent would do.
  • Take responsibilities as a keyworker to a young person which requires working closely with professionals, parents, siblings, and extended family to ensure that all plans are adhered to and progressed in a timely manner and that risk assessments are accurately detailed and communicated effectively to ensure children and young people are cared for consistently and safely.
  • Contribute to the Regulation 44 monitoring visits and regulatory inspections positively and proactively to ensure the children's home meets its regulatory responsibilities in all areas as set out in the Children's Home Regulations 2015.

Personal Requirements:

  • Relevant experience of working as a qualified Residential Practitioner in a Children's Home.
  • Supervision of staff (including deployment, allocation of tasks and professional development).
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or the equivalent.
  • A solid understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices governing residential childcare in the UK, including the Children Act 1989 and the Care Standards Act 2000.
  • Ability to drive and holds a current driving licence.

Working Hours: 9:00am - 17:00pm / Mon - Fri

Salary: £34,834.00to £38,223.00 per annum
