About the role

Working 08:00 – 17:00 any 5 from 7, the Transport Planner primary responsibility will be planning North West based vehicles from our site at Simonswood to ensure they get to their destinations on time. You will work as a team to solve problems whilst conducting root cause analysis and driving improvements.

You will be responsible for:

  • Driving efficiency and cost savings whilst planning routes
  • Adhering to EU and WTD driving regulations.
  • Obtaining backloads and reducing empty mileage
  • Liaising with agencies to fill shifts.
  • Dealing with high profile customers
  • Booking in collections and deliveries
  • Liaising with internal and external warehousing
  • General Operational duties

About you

Having experience in a similar role would be advantageous. The ideal candidate will be motivated and willing to progress in a fast paced environment. You will form part of close team and will be able to communicate with the wider DFDS network. Preferably you will hold a current CPC qualification and have experience of TMS Systems.
