The Opportunity:

We are looking for an ambitious insurance lawyer to join our new wordings team as a Wordings Consultant and help shape its future. Working in a collaborative team you will work closely with underwriters across the UK, Europe and further afield to write, review and amend policy documentation, as well as providing coverage advice and encouraging best practice on wordings issues.

Your New Role:

  • Support innovation and growth in the business as well as managing legal & regulatory risk across several jurisdictions
  • Advising on, reviewing & amending market clauses, policy wordings and ancillary documentation
  • Drafting policy wordings, including QBE's own branded wordings
  • Staying abreast of legal, regulatory and market changes to advise underwriters of their impact on wordings, and to maintain wordings up to date
  • Assisting Head of Wordings with the development and implementation of the wording strategy to support the business, including the delivery of projects
  • Developing strong relationships with all stakeholders, including underwriting, legal, compliance and governance teams
  • Share knowledge and deliver training on recent legal developments to team members and underwriters
  • Generally supporting the business by becoming a reliable and trusted advisor on legal and regulatory issues that impact on policy wordings

About You:

  • Law degree with some experience of advising on insurance law (contentious or non-contentious) or insurance policy wordings
  • Sound knowledge of contract law, including experience of international and multinational contracts
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
