Water Regulations Inspector

The water regulation's inspector role is responsible for the inspection of both domestic and non-domestic properties within the Thames Water area, inspecting plumbing systems both reactive and proactive for compliance of the Water supply (water fittings) Regulations 1999. The role also involves the auditing of approved plumbers. This is a customer facing role.

What you'll be doing as a Water regulation inspector

  • Conduct inspections to meet our regulatory targets.
  • Audit approved plumbers, monitoring their competency and customer care.
  • Audit RPZ valve installations.
  • Direct involvement in high-risk/high-profile investigations, like water quality contamination cases.
  • Support notifications related to plumbing alterations under Regulation 5 of the Water Fittings Regulations.
  • Develop and optimize processes to improve customer compliance, working with Wholesale Market Services, Developer Services, etc.
  • Manage aspects of the Approved Plumber Scheme, including promotion, recruitment, training, and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with Water Regs teams to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to drive water regulation awareness and competency.
  • Work with external stakeholders to improve regulatory awareness among domestic and non-domestic customers.

Base Location: Please note that this role often requires driving to various sites in the Oxford, London, and Reading areas. Your base location can be flexible based on where you live.

Working hours: 7:36 am to 3:36 pm Monday to Friday

Necessary requirements for the role: Full UK driving licence

What you should bring to the role

  • Sound working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and internal processes. (advantageous)
  • City & Guilds or NVQ equivalent on the enforcement of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999. (advantageous)
  • Relevant industry experience and understanding of the business will be beneficial.
  • Fully competent in using the appropriate company IT systems and office software.
