Financial Accountant

Reed Finance is working with a well-established and highly reputable global organisation seeking a Financial Accountant to join the team.

The primary responsibility of the Financial Accountant will be to support the companies monthly and quarterly reporting and oversee the adherence the monthly and quarterly controlling framework (GRC), working alongside other members of the finance to ensure the submission of timely and high-quality financial data as required to meet internal/external reporting requirements.

As part of the role, you will mentor other junior members of the finance team and utilise their skills to support the overall successful delivery of objectives.

  • Supporting the Finance Controller in ensuring the accuracy and timelines of all financial records.
  • Delivery of the monthly/quarterly/annual close processes, analysing transactions and preparing required journals including fixed asset related transactions. Working alongside other members of the finance team as necessary to ensure all deliverables are completed to a high standard.
  • Ensuring compliance with group internal control procedures and support other team members with reconciliation of key Balance Sheet accounts.
  • Preparation of statutory accounts and ensuring statutory deadlines are adhered to. Be a main point of contact during internal/external audit processes. Supported by the finance team as necessary.
  • The Corporate Tax calculations are outsourced but the Financial Accountant will be responsible for providing timely and accurate data and analysis to assist in the completion of the submissions.
  • Be responsible for the review and submission of VAT Return workings and associated reconciliations. Reviewing the calculations prepared by other members of the Finance team and understanding the process to be able to deputise as required.

Candidate profile:

  • Qualified/qualified by experience accountant with good systems knowledge and a grasp and appreciation of strong financial controls.
  • Good business acumen having a structured and data driven mindset with a sound knowledge of financial management and analytical skills
  • Extensive knowledge of statutory accounts reporting and HMRC and Companies House reporting requirements.
  • Highly computer literate which extends to an ability to develop and use complex PC based spreadsheets and presentation tools.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines.
